The Service

Smartermeter.ie is a free, independent electricity price comparison tool for Irish households. It is not affiliated with ESB Networks or any electricity supplier. The service allows you to upload your ESB smart meter data and receive personalised estimates of annual electricity costs across multiple suppliers and tariffs.

Eligibility

You must be 18 years of age or older and a resident of the Republic of Ireland with access to ESB smart meter interval data to use this service.

Your Account

• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
• You must provide accurate information when creating an account.
• You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised access to your account at team@smartermeter.ie.

Accuracy of Tariff Data

Tariff information is scraped from supplier websites and updated regularly. However:

• Tariff data may lag behind supplier price changes.
• Complex tariff conditions (e.g. welcome discounts, cashback, fuel mix bonuses) may not be fully captured.
• All cost figures are estimates based on your historical usage data.

Always verify pricing directly with the supplier before switching. Smartermeter.ie accepts no liability for decisions made based on comparison figures.

Referral Fees

In accordance with the Consumer Protection Act 2007, we disclose the following:

Smartermeter.ie may receive a referral fee from an electricity supplier when a user switches through this site and the switch completes. The amount of any referral fee does not influence how plans are presented or ranked.

Switch Requests

By submitting a switch request, you:

• Confirm that the personal details you have provided are accurate and belong to you.
• Consent to those details being shared with the named supplier only, for the purpose of processing your electricity supply switch.
• Understand that Smartermeter.ie is an introduction service only — the supply contract is formed directly between you and the supplier, subject to the supplier's own terms and conditions.
• Understand that the switch is subject to the supplier's eligibility criteria and acceptance.

You may withdraw your consent before the switch is actioned by emailing team@smartermeter.ie.

Intellectual Property

The Smartermeter.ie website, software, and original content are owned by Smartermeter.ie and protected by intellectual property laws. Tariff information displayed on the site remains the property of the respective electricity suppliers.

Limitation of Liability

The service is provided on an “as is” basis without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• Smartermeter.ie is not liable for indirect, consequential, or economic losses arising from use of the service.
• Total aggregate liability does not exceed zero (as the service is provided free of charge).

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under Irish law. Your statutory rights are not affected.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ireland. The Irish courts have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes arising from use of this service.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. The “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision.
